Tenerife is an island with beautiful weather - all year round!

On Tenerife you can experience nature in all its facets and enjoy life. Unique natural settings with spectacular views, volcanic sand beaches, hidden mountain villages and picturesque coastal towns, adventure parks, caves and exotic gardens.

Arrival

Tenerife has two airports. The airport Tenerife North is located ten kilometres from the capital Santa Cruz. However, the airport Tenerife South in the touristic south of the island offers a larger selection of cheap direct flights.

Hotel

Many hotels and holiday apartments for every taste and budget are spread over the island. The well-kept Apartamentos Vistasur* in Playa de las Américas are located directly on the beach promenade of Playa de las Vistas in the southwest of Tenerife. In Puerto de la Cruz, we recommend the 4-star hotel Turquesa Playa* near the famous Loro Parque.

Places of interest

The subtropical climate on Tenerife makes the largest Canary Island a pleasant holiday resort all year round. Only rarely do the air and water temperatures fall below 20 degrees Celsius. But in the winter time, the sun is shining less and the occasionally it is raining. If one wants to combine sightseeing with untroubled bathing fun, the best time to travel is from April to October.

In Puerto de la Cruz you can easily spend two days. The 400-year-old port city in the northwest of Tenerife has a beautiful city center, black volcanic sand beaches and parks worth seeing. The Loro Parque (Parrot Park) is famous for its shows with dolphins, orcas and sea lions as well as the penguin planet and the world's largest parrot collection. You can get a first impression in this video.

The public Taoro Park was built on a volcanic cone. Between exotic plants, fountains and waterfalls you can relax and enjoy the view over the city. The botanical garden enchants with its colourful variety of flowers, tropical and native plants. The sea swimming pool Lago Martianez with a lake and seven pools provides plenty of bathing fun.

The landmark of the capital Santa Cruz is the futuristic Auditorium designed by the Valencian architect Calatrava at the port. Free parking is also available here. Nearby, the traditional market Nuestra Señora de Africa  offers exotic and regional specialities, handicrafts and souvenirs. The market is open every day until 2 pm. You can shop under palm trees in the shopping area of the old townwhich leads to the beautiful Plaza de España at the marina.

Ten kilometers north of Santa Cruz is the beautiful Playa de las Teresitas. Shady palm trees and a good infrastructure guarantee a successful beach day. In the village San Andrés there are many cheap tapas bars and BBQ restaurants.

A mystical panoramic drive and wonderful hikes through dense, sometimes foggy laurel forest can be experienced in the Anaga Mountains. Several viewing platforms provide spectacular views of the Teide volcano and the sea.

In the centre of Tenerife, the Pico del Teide is the highest mountain in Spain and the third highest island volcano in the world at around 3,700 metres. The panoramic trip through the volcanic landscape leads to the valley station of the cable car which is an experience you will not forget so quickly. The "Teleférico" and a small footpath then take you up to the sometimes snow-covered summit with its magnificent view.

A popular photo motif is the Drago Milenario. The famous dragon tree is in the centre of Icod de los Vinos. This historic mountain village is made for wine lovers and has the longest lava cave in Europe, the Cueva del Viento.

An exciting serpentine ride through the Teno Mountains leads to the tranquil mountain village Masca, famous for its goat's cheese. Also worth a stop is the coastal town Los Gigantes, which was given its name by the second highest steep cliff in Europe. At the idyllic harbour you can take a coffee and enjoy the 500 metre high rocks.

The southwest coast of Tenerife is well suited for observing whales and dolphins, of which up to 26 species can be found. The tourist hotspots are Costa Adeje and Playa de las Américas with numerous bathing bays, water sports offers, shopping and party miles.
