We travel to the capital of Greece: Athens. The world famous sight of the city is the Acropolis. It is a city fortress of ancient Greece and was dedicated to the city goddess Athena.

In our video “Athens in 5 Minutes”, we take you on an exciting journey through Greece’s vibrant capital. We start in the old town at the foot of the famous Acropolis. Here, you’ll find three must-visit neighborhoods: the picturesque Pláka, especially magical in the evening with its narrow alleys and cozy tavernas; lively Psirrí; and colorful Monastiráki with its famous flea market. At the market, we enjoy delicious meze and sip strong Greek coffee – a true feast for the senses.

For the best views and photo spots, we hike up several hills around Athens: the Lykabettus Hill, right in the middle of the city, offers spectacular panoramic views not to be missed. The Philopappos Hill, standing 147.4 meters tall, is the highest point in southern Athens and another perfect vantage point. And of course, there’s the historic Areopagus, the ancient court hill overlooking the Acropolis.

After soaking in history, we head to the trendy Gazi neighborhood, where you can enjoy bubbling molecular cocktails and a vibe reminiscent of 1990s Berlin. Nearby is the Kerameikos district, known for its artists, activists, and alternative spirit. Between the slightly worn facades, life pulses vibrantly, and loud beats fill the streets at night. A hip place that shows Athens from a completely different angle.

For a day trip outside the city, we highly recommend the island of Aegina. You can catch a morning ferry from the Piraeus harbor. Once there, rent a cool jeep and explore the island, famous for its pistachio production, under the bright blue sky and sunshine. What could be better?
