The island Sri Lanka is located in the Indian Ocean and is a paradise. During your vacation in the southern province of Sri Lanka, you will hike through the rainforest, swim with turtles and search for elephants. Simply fantastic!

Sri Lanka is often called “India Light” – it offers all the colors, scents, and vibrant culture of India but in a more relaxed and manageable way. While the cities like Colombo or Galle can be a bit bustling, the nature here is calm and breathtaking.

One of the highlights is the Sinharaja Forest, a vast rainforest and UNESCO World Heritage site. On a guided hike, you can explore lush tropical vegetation and spot curious monkeys, colorful birds, and slithering snakes. The natural beauty is truly unforgettable.

Another highlight is the Udawalawe National Park, where we enjoyed an individual jeep safari across the 100-hectare park. Seeing elephants roaming freely is practically guaranteed – an unforgettable experience to witness these gentle giants in the wild.

For tea lovers, visiting a tea plantation near Galle is a must. Learn all about the cultivation and production of English tea, and of course, sample some fresh brews. Nearby is the Turtle Beach, where giant turtles come ashore in the early morning hours to forage – a magical sight.

A boat trip on the Madu River takes you to Buddhist temples, through mangrove forests, and past a cinnamon plantation – a diverse experience immersed in nature.

To round off our journey, we stayed at an all-inclusive hotel in Ahungalla. We especially loved the poolside cocktail bar with a view of the sea – the perfect spot to relax and unwind after a day of adventures.

Sri Lanka offers a fascinating mix of nature, culture, and relaxation – ideal for those wanting to discover the real Asia. Check out our video, leave a like, and subscribe so you don’t miss any travel stories.
