Marrakech is a fairy tale from 1001 nights.

Fantastic gardens, bright colours and oriental flair. Marrakech attracts visitors from all over the world. Watch the video "Marrakech in 5 minutes" here or stay on the site to learn more about Marrakech.

Arrival

The Airport of Marrakech is directly connected from many European cities. It is best to take a taxi for the trip to the city centre.

Hotel

In Marrakech there are a lot of nice small accommodations (riads), which are very good value for money. In Riad Samarine* you really feel at home. Simply beautiful and super comfortable! The link to the booking is here:

Places of interest

We recommend not to come to Marrakech during the summer months, because it becomes unbearably hot then. Especially if you want to make a desert tour, it is almost 50 degrees Celsius hot here. We were in Marrakech during the Christmas season. The nights were cold, but during the day it was pleasantly warm.

The Djemaa el-Fna is the craziest square we have ever seen. There are jugglers, fortune tellers, snake charmers. From the roof terraces of many cafés around it you have a beautiful view over the whole square.

In the evening it is interesting to see how the square turns into the biggest restaurant in the world. The smell of meat and other delicacies is everywhere.

The Koutoubia mosque is only open to Muslims. But the architecture is also very impressive from the outside. Treat yourself to a delicious sugar cane or pomegranate juice in the front garden of the mosque and watch the action.

The Bahia Palace ist ein Meisterwerk des maurischen Baustils. Nimm dir genug Zeit, um die Gebäude zu besichtigen. Hier kannst du ein paar coole Instagram-Bilder aus dem Orient machen 😉

It is best to come to Marrakech with an empty suitcase. In the Souk you will find a lot of souvenirs that you would like to take home with you. Very important: Never accept the first prize. When negotiating you can often reduce the price to less than half. Sometimes it's even fun!

In Morocco you can find fresh mint teaeverywhere. Just add some sugar and hot water and let it steep for four minutes. Delicious!

The tanner quarter it gets stinky. Leather goods are made here. Tourist guides explain the process in different languages for little money.

The highlight of our Marrakesh trip: Camel riding in the desert. For about 20 Euros you can ride for about one hour just outside Marrakech. An authentic snack is included. It is best to book your tour at your accommodation, then it is usually cheaper!

The Jardin Majorelle is a very nice garden. The designer Yves Saint-Laurent lived here in a villa in this green oasis in the middle of the city!

From Marrakech you can also make many day trips - depending on how long you are in Marrakech. We were in Essaouira.

Another recommendable day trip is a trip to Ouarzazate and Ait Benhaddou. Then you will be on the road for a very long time. The tour lasts from early in the morning until late in the evening. Also popular are excursions into the Sahara or a guided trekking tour in the Atlas Mountains. These tours usually last 2 to 3 days.

Rental car

We do not recommend a rental car. The driving style of Moroccans is partly very aggressive. Better book private day tours! If you still dare to discover the country on your own, book your car now under the following link:

Marrakech is full of contrasts. The simple world of the souks and the medina on the one hand, oriental pomp and wealth on the other. It was great to get to know the city.
