Arrival
The airport Aeropuerto de Málaga is the most important airport of Andalusia and is connected by many airlines, including low-cost airlines. With the suburban train you can reach the city centre cheaply and comfortably in 12 minutes.
Hotel
In Málaga there are many hotels, apartments and holiday homes for every taste and budget. A night in a double room at the luxurious Gran Hotel Miramar* is available from 250 euros. We recommend La Casa Azul B&B* in the flair of the 19th century, which is only 15 minutes on foot from the old town and only a few steps away from the famous Malagueta beach.
Places of interest
In summer it becomes very hot in Málaga and the beaches are really crowded. In the winter months it rains more often. For a pleasant stay we recommend the period from April to June and September to November.
Our first highlight are two Moorish fortresses. From the palace complex Alcazaba and the Castillo de Gibralfaro you have a breathtaking view of the city and the harbour. Our tip: On Sundays from 2pm on, the entrance is free!
At the harbour kann man schön flanieren, gemütlich Kaffee trinken oder Eis essen. Sicher kennst du die Eissorte mit den eingelegten Rosinen, die Málaga heißt. Die Eissorte kommt aus Málaga. Am Leuchtturm beginnt die Playa de Malagueta. On the 7 kilometres long beach promenade you can have a nice walk or go by bike. You only have to deviate a short piece to the main road. In a beach bar (chiringuito) try the speciality Espetos de Málaga, sardines grilled on a spit. A Tinto de verano, a light red wine mix, tastes good with it.

The city garden you will find many exotic plants. Relaxing is also the rose garden at the pompous town hall half way to the old town. The cathedral is called La Manquita (the one-armed) because the second tower was never completed.
A visit to the Picasso Museum is a must (free admission on Sundays 2 hours before closing time). Nearby there is a tea room that offers insanely delicious cakes. At the Plaza de la Merced you can take a selfie with the bronze statue of the famous painter Pablo Picasso, who was born here in 1881. His birth house next to the plaza can be visited.
Our culinary tour starts in the big market hall Mercado de Atarazanas, where you can buy fresh food, local specialties like pickled olives and spices until 3 pm. Nearby we will have a cheap wine tasting in the oldest bodega of the city, the Antigua Casa de GuardiaIn the old part of the city at Bodega El Patio you can have an excellent paella In the restaurant Vino Mio there is a flamenco showin the evening. Be sure to make a reservation in time! tapas, artful little snacks, can be tried in almost every restaurant or you book a guided tapas tour through selected restaurants. It is also worthwhile to take a tour of the legendary Bodega El Pimpi, where many stars stop by. There is something going on here day and night.
Enough space in your suitcase? In Málaga you can shop. Viele internationale Modeketten findest du in den Einkaufsstraßen Calle Marqués de Larios, Calle Nueva und auf der Hafenpromenade Muelle Uno. Westlich des meist ausgetrockneten Flussbettes liegen das Kaufhaus El Corte Inglés und die Einkaufszentren Larios and Vialia. Aber auch die schmalen Gassen lohnen einen Besuch. In den kleinen Boutiquen findet man süße Spezialitäten, traditionelle Kleidung und authentische Souvenirs wie handgefertigte Keramik.
