The first highlight: Taipei 101, which is over 500 metres high, making it one of the tallest buildings in the world. The lift travels at a speed of 60 kilometres per hour and catapults visitors to the very top in 37 seconds. In the centre of Taipei 101 is a 660-tonne sphere, a giant pendulum that keeps the building safe even during typhoons and earthquakes.

Ximending is Taipei's shopping and entertainment district. Locals and tourists stroll through the colourful alleyways. Treat yourself to a delicious boba tea in one of the many shops. The flavour with the tapioca balls takes a little getting used to, but if you're already in Taipei, you should try it. There are also plenty of arcades in Ximending where you can try your luck at the vending machines. They are open 24 hours a day. There are lots of stuffed animals to be won.

Between the skyscrapers and the hustle and bustle, you will find the Longshan Temple, the oldest temple in Taiwan. Just look at how people celebrate their faith. It's very calming!

Raohe Night Market is the culinary highlight of Taipei. People are cooking, frying and sizzling everywhere. Every day from 5 pm to midnight. There's stinky tofu and lots of other snacks that we've never had before. In any case, Raohe Night Market is a must for every visitor to Taipei.

We also recommend a trip on Maokong cable car, which is a little further south. It takes almost half an hour to get to the top. Once at the top, there are various hiking trails past tea plantations. etwas südlicher liegt. Fast eine halbe Stunde brauchst du bis du ganz oben bist. Oben angekommen gibt es verschiedene Wanderwege vorbei an Teeplantagen.
