The World in 5 Minutes – Schönes Deutschland | Book 1

This is our Book for the video. It is the perfect addition for Leipzig and other popular cities in Germany.

Arrival

The Airport of Leipzig is only 15 minutes by train from the city centre. There are some direct flights from Leipzig, but you can also fly with a stopover in Frankfurt or Düsseldorf. The main railway station of Leipzig can be reached from Berlin in about one hour! From Frankfurt the journey takes about three hours.

Hotel

Leipzig is a rather cheap destination. An overnight stay in a good 4-star hotel costs less than 100 euros per night for two people. We recommend Motel One-Leipzig Augustusplatz *. The hotel is very centrally located, from here you can reach many sights on foot.

Places of interest

Start your tour in Leipzig in the city centre. The first sights are located directly in the near of the hotel:

The Nicolai Church is the largest and oldest church in Leipzig. In March 1989 this place was the starting point of the peaceful revolution. On the market square, where the town hall is also located, you take a quick photo and continue on to St. Thomas Church. In front of the church, there is a monument in honour of the composer Johann Sebastian Bach. He lived in Leipzig for 30 years.

By public transport or Clevershuttle (see below for more information) you can travel to the Battle of Nations Monument: it commemorates the thousands of people who lost their lives in a mass battle in 1803. During the battle, the French Emperor Napoleon was defeated, who had conquered large parts of Europe until then.

Show the world that you are in Leipzig.

The Panometer is a unique museum with huge temporary 360° exhibitions. The pictures are 32 meters high and with every look you will find a new detail.

The Plagwitz district in the west of Leipzig is a modern artists' quarter. There are numerous galleries and exhibitions at the Alten Baumwollspinnerei .

In the evening you can enjoy a super delicious dinner at the Japanese restaurant Shiki Two.

On the roof of the City skyscraper there is a viewing platform for a great view over all of Leipzig. From here you can also see the Leipzig Zoo, which we can highly recommend. Here is "Gondwanaland", Germany's largest tropical rainforest with a pleasant 26 degrees all year round. Plan at least half a day for your visit, preferably even a whole day if you want to relax.

This works by carpooling between people who have a similar goal. The price is up to 50 percent lower than local taxi fares. In the end, the best way to pay is with the Clevershuttle app via Paypal or with a credit card. By the way: Clevershuttle has environmentally friendly electric or hydrogen vehicles at all locations. We are happy to support this!
