top attractions

Mauritius has become a top travel destination in recent years. Our highlight: every morning catamaran tours start from Blue Bay. You are mostly in small groups of up to 12 people. While snorkeling, hundreds of fish swim around you, the water is as clear as in the pool. Lunch and drinks are usually included. For a day tour you pay on average 50 to 60 Euro per person. It’s good to book online in advance!

The great thing of Mauritius is: you do not need to search for a long time in order to find some dream sand beaches . We found the beach in Flic en Flac very nice. Here, you can also enjoy a romantic sunset.

The Black River Gorges National Park , you get very close to nature. But stay on the signposted hiking trails in order not to disturb the animals!

The food in Mauritius is really exceptional and delicious: we recommend freshly caught fish at Wapalapam). Although the prices are a little higher than usual on the island, the atmosphere in the jungle is unique.

Port Louis is the capital of the island. The city centre is not very beautiful, but the way to the citadel is worthwhile, because from here you have a great view over the whole city.

The small place Chamarel in the south of the island is very worthwhile seeing. A highlight is the "Seven Coloured Earth" . It is a worldwide unique geological phenomenon. Through volcanic activity seven different earths were mixed together here. Here you can take many great souvenir photos - even with giant turtles.

Curious Corner is a place for explorers. Here you can experience optical illusions at first hand - or simply wander around in a labyrinth of mirrors. From the panorama restaurant Chamarel you have an amazing view - watch our video .

Visit the tea plantation Bois Cheri on Mauritius and learn how tea is made. When you come in the morning, you can visit the fields! A tasting is included in the tour!

In the north of the island, you will discover a colourful display of flowers in the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden . Plan on visiting for about two hours to admire the giant water lilies and tropical plants. Nearby is the Labourdonnais.

Rental car

We recommend to get a rental car directly at the airport. The best thing is to book online with a reputable provider. Attention: In Mauritius, there is left-hand traffic! A car with four-wheel drive is recommendable if you want to drive off-road.
